You log a travel bug
In the web log for
the cache where you found the bug you say "Took TB
Then near the
upper right of the cache page you will see the travel bug name listed.
Click the name and it will lead you to that bug's page (bugs have their
own page). In the upper right of the travel bug's page, you will click a
link that says Found It? Log it!. This will take you to a page where
you log taking/snatching/grabbing/picking up the bug. On that page below
the date is a blank where you must enter the tracking number. After you
complete this page, the bug will be added to your inventory of travel
Next, in the web
log for the cache where you leave (drop, put) the bug you say "Left TB
While doing your
web log for the cache where you left it, at the bottom of the page
write your log will be a
list of the bugs in your inventory. You select the bug from this list.
(Note: You will not see this bug list unless you have at least one
bug in your inventory.)
TIP: If the
bug doesn't appear on the cache page of the cache where you found it
(not an uncommon occurrence) then go to the main geocaching.com page
and click the "Track Travel Bugs" link
(It's in the column on the upper left). It will take you to a page where
you enter the tracking number in a blank in the middle of the page.
This will lead you to the bug's page and you continue as in step 2
If I can add this without
confusing you, you actually log a bug a total of six
times, because you also do steps 1 & 3 in the handwritten cache log at
the cache itself where you found it and where you left it. There's a lot of bookkeeping involved with travel bugs.
